Beta 4 of iOS 17.2, iPadOS 17.2, MacOS Sonoma 14.2 Released for Testing
Apple has released another round of betas for their operating system suite, with iOS 17.2 beta 4 for iPhone, iPadOS 17.2 beta 4 for iPad, and macOS Sonoma 14.2 beta 4 for Mac, each being available to users participating in the beta testing programs for Apple system software.
Some new features are coming with iOS 17.2, iPadOS 17.2, and macOS Sonoma 14.2, including the ability to add stickers to your iMessages from contextual menus, and the inclusion of the Journal app in iOS 17.2 for iPhone. The typical round of bug fixes and security enhancements are expected to be included as well with the final versions of iOS 17.2, iPadOS 17.2, and macOS Sonoma 14.2, when those are released likely next month.

Downloading beta 4 is possible for anyone enrolled int he beta programs for iOS/iPadOS:
- Open the “Settings” app on your iPhone or iPad
- Go to “General”
- Go to “Software Update”
- Select to update to iOS 17.2 Beta 4 / iPadOS 17.2 Beta 4
How to Download MacOS Sonoma 14.2 Beta 4
Mac beta testers will be able to find beta 4 by doing the following:
- Go to the Apple menu and go to “System Settings”
- Select “General”
- Choose “Software Update”
- Choose to “Update Now” for MacOS Sonoma 14.1 Beta 5
While beta system software is aimed at advanced users and developers, anyone can adjust their Software Update settings to receive beta updates. If you opted out of iOS 17 beta updates or opted out of macOS Sonoma beta updates after participating in the betas previously, you’d need to adjust those settings again.
Apple goes through a variety of beta releases before issuing final versions of system software, which suggests we are likely to receive final versions of iOS 17.2, iPadOS 17.2, and macOS Sonoma 14.2 sometime in December.
The most recently available versions of system software for Apple products are currently iOS 17.1.1 for iPhone, iPadOS 17.1.1 for iPad, macOS Sonoma 14.1.1 for Mac, MacOS Ventura 13.6.1, and macOS Monterey 12.7.1 for Macs not running Sonoma, iOS 16.7.2, iPadOS 16.7.2, iPadOS 15.8, and iOS 15.8 for iPhone and iPad models not running iOS 17 or iPadOS 17, watchOS 10.1.1 for Apple Watch, and tvOS 17.1 for Apple TV.
